![]() | Sunflower Room 2 - 5 years In this room activities are carefully planned to develop all children’s learning, we aim to provide planned activities suitable for the child’s stage of development. Children aged between 2 & 3 years will take part in activities to enhance the child’s mental, social and physical development. Books will play an important role with group reading and interaction. Counting, sorting and matching as well as comparing games. Physical development is introduced and encouraged with children playing both in and outdoors. At this tender age the children are becoming independant and confident so toilet traning is introduced with staff always there to help! Children aged between 3 & 4 years will be covering the six areas of learning. The six areas of learning are: Personal, social & emotional development - for this we encourage children to take turns, share, respect, gaining a positive self image and a high self esteem which gives them confidence to interact with others. Communication, language & literacy - for this we encourage the children to express their needs and feelings through conversation and mark making skills and have a variety of books to stimulate a child’s thinking. Mathematical development - for this we encourage children to count to ten and beyond, with simple tasks such as giving plates & cups out at snack time. We, observe, compare and discuss weights and measurements in water, sand and baking, etc. Knowledge & Understanding of the world - for this we encourage children to use the computer and a variety of resources to develop skills in communication and information technology, and use open ended questions to extend their thoughts and interests. Physical development - for this we encourage the children to develop both fine motor skills and gross motor skills by offering a variety of challenges both indoor and outdoor.
